This postcard depicts a hunting scene from the Middle Paleolithic, during the Mousterian period, in which humans are hunting an ancient elephant (Palaeoloxodon antiquus). Archaeological findings show that prehistoric populations sometimes hunted these massive animals, which were an important source of meat and raw materials.
