Organized for the first time in 1994, the Fête de l’Archéologie has become a not-to-be-missed event at the Musée du Malgré-Tout every Pentecost weekend. ! This annual event in Wallonia invites young and old alike to discover archaeology from a fun, educational and immersive angle.
Each edition offers a day rich in activities to explore our past in an interactive way demonstrations of ancestral know-how, hands-on workshops, historical re-enactments, guided tours, lectures and much more. Since its inception, the Festival has gone from strength to strength, welcoming an increasingly large and diverse audience every year.
The Fête de l’Archéologie is open to all those with an interest in archaeology. history buffs or ordinary visitors to spend a convivial moment with family and friends.
Varied activities for all ages
- Demonstrations of ancient techniques (weaving, pottery, flint knapping, thruster shooting…)
- From participatory workshops where visitors can learn the skills of archaeologists and craftsmen of the past
- Visit animations and educational games specially designed for children
- Visit historical reconstructions that plunge the public into the daily life of past eras
- Visit lectures and guided tours to deepen your knowledge
Since 1994, this emblematic event has reflected the museum’s mission to make archaeology accessible to all, by combining education, experimentation and conviviality.
