In addition to guided tours of the 3 archaeological sites and the various exhibitions, the museum’s activities team offers a selection of activities and workshops suitable for all ages (with some exceptions) and all audiences.

These events and workshops must be booked in advance, but they are also offered free of charge at weekends, bank holidays and during school vacations at 11am and 2pm, in exchange for admission to the museum!

If you’re wondering what the difference is between an animation and a workshop, you’ll leave with a creation at the end of a workshop, not at the end of an animation!

Prehistoric modeling

Discover a prehistoric art form by modeling animal and female figurines in raw clay. Ages 3 and up.

History of cave art: drawing and color techniques used by prehistoric artists. Creation of a prehistoric drawing. Ages 3 and up.

Wind, string, percussion and bell instruments are available for everyone to discover prehistoric sounds. Ages 3 and up.

Fire before matches

Discover the different fire production systems used from prehistoric times to the present day. From age 3.

Discover and handle the different materials used by prehistoric man to build his habitats, tools, ornaments… Ages 3 and up.

Propulsion and/or archery

Learn about the history and use of the thruster, the hunting weapon of our Paleolithic ancestors. Ages 6 and up.

Prehistoric weaving

An introduction to the fibers and weaving techniques used in prehistoric times. Some will be able to try out a pebble loom, while others will be able to make cords. Ages 6 and up.

The art of adornment: make a bracelet from leather, shell and vegetable string, using bone and flint tools. Ages 10 and up

Engrave a female figure or an animal on a schist plaque using a flint, like prehistoric man. Ages 8 and up.

Learn about Gallo-Roman mosaic techniques and create a mosaic. From age 3.

Discover an ancient technique for making baskets, combining sewing and plant fibers. Ages 8 and up.

Being a schoolboy in Rome

Discover, in the form of a debate, what Roman society had in store for schoolchildren, from a social and religious point of view. Ages 8 and up.

Gallo-Roman tableware

Demonstrate one aspect of bone working by creating a decoration on a bone plate (this workshop must be preceded by the animation). From age 10.

Presentation of an ornament that appeared in Celtic times and was widely used in Gallo-Roman times. Creation of an omega fibula. Ages 10 and up.

Presentation of the monetary system of the High Empire. Hot minting demonstration: each participant strikes his or her own coin. Ages 12 and up.
