Prehistory and Antiquity in the south of the Sambre-et-Meuse region<\/h2>\n

Did you know that in the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse region of France, traces of Neanderthals have been found? That’s right, a child’s tooth dating back 46,000 years<\/strong><\/span> is the oldest evidence of human presence in the region, and it’s on display at the museum! What animals did humans encounter or hunt? What tools did they use? How did the Gallo-Romans live? What were their burial practices? <\/p>\n

Through a completely renovated hall in 2021<\/strong><\/span>you’ll find all the answers to the questions you’ve always wondered about.<\/p>\n

Among the exhibits are a complete cave lion skeleton, a fine collection of Gallic vases, a statue of a Celtic god, Gallo-Roman jewelry, monetary treasures and two late-Roman burial tombs complete with rich furnishings. Another highlight is the exceptional reconstruction of a Roman roof using 150 flat and round tiles from local excavations. <\/p>\n

In this exhibition, discover the clues that our ancestors of prehistory and antiquity<\/strong><\/span> have left us.<\/p>\n
